Turkey Logistics Latest Update

We have all been witnessing the devastating images from Turkey, following Monday's earthquakes, which has shocked and disturbed the entire world.

Our hearts and thoughts are very much with the people of both Turkey and Syria, that have been so dramatically affected by the tragic events that have become apparent during the last few days.

Of course, there has been disruption in the movement of goods to and from Turkey.

Ocean Freight

The Port of Iskenderun, in Turkey's South, remains closed, due to severe structural damage. Carriers have made the decision to discharge containers at ports such as Mersin, and in some instances Port Said in Egypt.

Air Freight

Istanbul, and northern airports, are currently operating normally. In the South, Adana airport was closed but is now operating a limited schedule, and Gaziantep airport is closed to civilian and non rescue related flights. We are mindful that aid consignments will take priority over commercial movements for the time being, so some delays may be experienced for air cargo to Turkey.

Road Freight

Road freight services to and from Northern cities seem to be operating normally, but there is no transport within southern cities near the epicentre of the earthquakes. There may also be delays due to aid movements being prioritised as relief efforts ramp up.

Our message is to check with the Croft team, before making arrangements for the movement of any urgent shipments, and to be prepared for potential delays across all transport modes right now.
