China About To Celebrate Golden Week

Next Sunday is China's National Day, the annual celebration of the forming of the People’s Republic of China in 1949.

This day traditionally begins a 7-day holiday in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau known as Golden Week, where fireworks and activities are held throughout the nation, especially in the capital Beijing.

During golden week public places are decorated with flags and flowers and in the period before and after there is an enormous migration of people, as the population travel from all over the world to spend time with their families

The pandemic somewhat stunted this travel during the past 2-3 years, being limited during China's prolonged fight against Covid. However, travel restrictions have been mostly lifted and this year should witness a return to more normal holiday conditions.

Most factories, businesses and government institutions are closed during Golden Week, and export production virtually stops. Carriers reduce their schedules, as we have seen with extra blanked sailings, and there is very little logistics movement.

Many of our partners will be closed, or working remotely, during the dates below, with emergency contact options available.
