Air Freight

Air Freight Market Set For Demand Boost

The air freight market, especially from Asia, may be about to witness a rise in demand due to ecommerce and electronic product launches.

Generally speaking, demand has been low for moving products by air freight compared to the extremities of the post pandemic rush, meaning that rates have remained stable on many markets.

However, that may be about to change in the next few weeks. Unlike ocean freight, where demand traditionally tails off after China's Golden Week, air freight enters its busiest period of the year.

E-commerce often fuels an increase in demand during the most hectic shopping period of the year, with Black Friday and dare we say 'Christmas' on the horizon.

Product launches of electronic products also boost demand and early indications are this will continue to be a factor this year, despite the cost of living crisis. Apple recently witnessed large queues at their global stores for the launch of the iPhone 15, after three consecutive quarters of declining revenues.

Therefore, capacity could be stretched and rates could be on the way up during the next few weeks. Our advice is to book early and to talk to us about expected volumes so that we can plan accordingly.

As ever, your Croft Cargo team will be monitoring developments closely.
